After being delayed by the pandemic, the Rusty Dragons are moving forward with plans to develop this new team based on our mission to bring dragon boat racing to people of all abilities.  Dragon Boat Canada is also promoting Para Dragons as a new category of racing for athletes with a psychological, sensory, physical, neurological and/or developmental disability.  See their Para Dragons Page for more details.  Great White North has also committed to adding a Para Dragons division to their regattas, and this is one of the two races where this new team will race - at the GWN Challenge in September.  We'll also race at another regatta in August as our warm-up.

We are looking for at least 12 people with any disability defined above (very broad scope), and up to 22.  The division allows up to 50% of the team without a disabilty, so we'll fill any empty seats with supporters who want to paddle and race with this team.

2022 Feb 20 Update:  Creation of this team page to begin publishing details for the team as they are finalized over the coming month.  We expect to open registratipon for this team in mid-March.

This new team is set to accomplish a lot in their first year.  This will be the second para team with the club - the first was our blind partially sighted team from back in 2014-2015 who went on to the Canadian Nationals twice and the Pan Am Club Crew Championships once.  This new team is for people with any disability and we want to show what we can do as a team.
