Spirit Dragons

This will be the fifth year that the Rusty Dragons have supported teams for youth (aged 14 and up) and young adults with an intellectual disability.  This year we are getting a larger committee together to manage the team, with the objective of expanding the program as well as attracting more new paddlers to this very accessible sport.  We are also encouraging family members and friends to join the team.

Stay tuned for more information after the team committee meets in February.  Please don't hesitate to contact the team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Spirit Dragons

This is the fifth year for this team. Join us and spend your summer months enjoying the paddling, camaraderie, and fresh air on waterfront that comes with this team. New this year is monthly video review - where we take video of team paddling and can look at it later to identify areas where the team can improve. This is an invaluable tool to becoming a better team. We have two dedicated co-captains identified very early on to help plan for an amazing year!

Program Details for 2020

NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the original May to July program has been cancelled.  We are watching the situation closely and may offer a program in August.  However, the health and safety of our paddlers is paramount so we are uncertain there will be any racing this year. :(

Original plans are listed below for reference.  Stay tuned for updates in the future.

This team practices once a week on Saturdays.  There will likely be two parts to this season, and paddlers will be free to sign up for one or both parts.  They will be the Canada Day program with practices in June and racing on Canada Day on Toronto Island, and a new second half of the season with practices in mid-July to August and racing at the Hope Floats Challenge on the Welland Canal.

At this time, only the Canada Day session is confirmed and registration for that session will be opening before the end of February.
