MIXED ABILITY DRAGONS

We launched our second decade of this team with an expansion and partnership with the international Mixed Ability Sports organization (iMAS), and now (2026) expansion to a 2nd location on the Credit River.

iMAS Origin: Mixed Ability stemmed from the lack of opportunity for disabled people to take part in mainstream community sport, as equal members, without being separated, classified, or identified.

We have one label for our special paddlers: VIPs (Very Important Paddlers).

We are welcoming family members and friends to join one of our two locations...
 > Outer Harbour in the east end of Toronto (480 Unwin Ave, near Tommy Thompson Park).
 > Credit River in the west end of Toronto (31 Front St North, at Mississauga Canoe Club).

March 21 Update:  With the announcement of the 2nd team, we will give all previously registered members the option to move to the Credit River team if that is more convenient for them.  This is all about accessibility and get more people the opportunity to paddle and enjoys being out on the water.

Program Details for 2026

This year, we have arranged for more practices on the water and then just one regatta (race day) at the end, which will be on Saturday, August 15th in Welland.  A bus will be arranged for the regatta.

We have TWO locations to choose from, each with a slightly different practice schedule and cost.

Option #1 - OUTER HARBOUR (480 Unwin Ave, Toronto)
Practices are once a week for 11 weeks, on Saturdays, from May 23 to August 8 (every week except June 13), from 12:30 to 2:30 PM at Outer Harbour.  The team will then race at the 4th annual Hope Floats Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 15th at the Welland International Flatwater Centre.
 >> Cost: $249 for each VIP (each VIP is permitted to have a Supporter join them for free).

Option #2 - CREDIT RIVER at Mississauga Canoe Club (31 Front St North, Mississauga).

Practices are once a week for 10 weeks, on Sundays, from May 31 to August 9, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM.  The team will then race at the 4th annual Hope Floats Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 15th at the Welland International Flatwater Centre.
 >> Cost: $299 for each VIP (
each VIP is permitted to have a Supporter join them for free).

We will arrange a subsidized coach bus to take those interested between Toronto and Welland.

See the Practice Site Page for more details on the Outer Harbour primary practice location.  The address of the Outer Harbour practice site is at 480 Unwin Avenue, but note there is no parking at this address unless there is a VIP in the vehicle.  There is free parking just to the east of the site, and a path to walk along to the practice site.  It is easily found by WheelTrans (we greet participants at the gate).  Details and maps will be emailed to all participants.

Address details for the new practice site on the Credit River will be added here soon.
